Copper matt raku pieces are fired and placed into reduction bins as in the raku process. After a few minutes the bin is then opened to re-oxidise the work. Controlling this re-oxidation process is a major part of developing the colourful, iridescent finishes that characterise the Copper Matt glaze.
Due to the nature of copper matt glazes the finish may vary over time. To preserve the unique matt surface avoid direct sunlight or frequent handling, especially with moist or hand lotion covered hands.
